Capertee Valley
The Capertee Valley is located on the Western edge of the Blue Mountains and only 3 hours travel from Sydney.
The scenic valley encompasses the hamlets of Glen Davies, Glen Alice and Bogee.

It is surrounded by the Wollemi, Capertee and Gardens of stone national parks. Surrounded by the wonders of World Heritage listed wilderness, the Capertee Valley is the world’s second largest canyon.
Sandstone cliffs dominate the escarpment, drawing down into a deep chasm carved into the environment over millions of years. With tranquil vistas and serene mountain landscapes the Capertee Valley is abundant in flora and fauna, providing the perfect opportunity to encounter nature in a natural environment.
The impressive peak, Pantoney’s Crown, beckons the keen walker to climb its summit. From the top is a 360 degree panorama of the dramatic and breathtaking valley.

Bird Watching
Capertee Valley is one of the top bird watching locations in the world. It is especially known for rare species like the Regent Honeyeater.

Bushwalking & Scenic Hikes
The valley is surrounded by dramatic sandstone cliffs and wide open spaces. People come for scenic walks, and panoramic lookouts.

Photography & Stargazing
With open skies and almost no light pollution, Capertee Valley is a magnet for landscape photographers and stargazers. The sunsets, sunrises, and night skies are breathtaking.

Pearson's
Lookout
Pearson's lookout, spectacular sweeping views of the Capertee Valley and Pantoney's Crown, well worth taking in ou your travels to Myalla.
Located on the Eastern side of the Castlereagh Highway, South of Capertee and North of Ben Bullen.

Capertee Valley Helicopters
Capertee Valley Helicopters is locally owned and specialising in joy flights and charter in the central west of NSW.

Long or short joy flights, charter and weddings.

Royal Hotel Capertee
Located at the entrance to the stunning Capertee Valley, Castlereagh Highway, 35 minutes from Myalla.
Established in 1840, this historic pub is a cherished local landmark, offering delicious meals made with locally sourced ingredients, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Craft Works Distillery: Australian craft spirits including single malt whisky, gin and others.
Small family owned distillery using local materials. Multi international awards.
Located at the back of the Royal Hotel Capertee.
Open Saturdays only 1.00 – 4.00pm.

Glen
Davis
Glen Davis, an old shale-mining ghost town on the Capertee River, is located 20 minutes from Myalla.
The first mining tunnel, established in 1881, later became the basis of the major mining enterprise which opened in 1938.
The operation closed down in 1952 leaving what remains today – a fascinating ghost town characterised by crumbling furnace ruins, retorts and collapsed shafts covered in vegetation and surrounded by steep sandstone cliffs and a profuse array of birdlife.
Glen Davis has a picnic area with an amenities block. There is a bushwalking trail (22 km return) to Newnes up the Green Gully, in the Wollemi National Park, following the old pipeline track.
Glen Davies Ruin Tours: The only way to see the ruins of the old shale mining town is to go on one of the Glen Davis Shale Oil Works Tours which runs most Saturdays at 2.00 pm winter time and 5.00 pm summer time. the tour takes about 2 hours.
Bookings are essential Call John on 0413 963 438 – it’s a walking tour, where you can see the ruins and hear the stories, so dress for the weather and bring some water.

Rylstone
Located 35min away from Myalla, Rylstone is genuinely charming and beautiful, historic village on the Cudgegong River.
Located in an area of great beauty The district is known for its wool, sheep, cattle, wine and olives.
With tourism being central to the local economy.
The main appeal of the town lies in its historic buildings and particularly in Louee Street.
If you are looking for a nice meal Rylstone have some great pubs and restaurants.

Kandos
Kandos is a town which was created in 1913 to exploit the limestone in the area.
It became a huge producer of cement which gave it the nickname “The Town That Built Sydney”.
Since the cement works closed in 2011 it has become a popular “tree change” destination for artists.
With craft shops, and the local IGA supermarket all a 30min drive away.

Established in 1998 by the de Beaurepaire family, De Beaurepaire Wines produces elegant, balanced and age-worthy wines from grapes grown on their 55 hectare single estate vineyard in Rylstone, NSW.

Ganguddy Dunns Swamp
Just 45 min away is Ganguddy-Dunns Swamp, a popular camping and picnic area.
Set on the banks of the Cudgegong River and nestled amongst the stunning sandstone pagoda rock formations.
Dunns Swamp enjoys an outstanding biodiversity of plant and animal communities with at least 107 bird species spotted in the area.
A network of walking tracks surrounds the waterway, including one suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.
Opportunities for canoeing and swimming also make this a ‘must visit’ destination.
Take to the water by embarking on a guided kayak tour or by hiring a kayak or paddle board from Southern Cross Kayaking.
They are based here during the warmer months from the end of Spring through to Autumn, during school holidays and long weekends.
